Elevator indicators

The indicator of our elevator goes off just before the lift actually opens. Considering the seeming reluctance with which the doors open, there is ages between the indicator light switching off and the doors opening. So, if you are waiting on a floor and someone enters the scene just after the indicator lights go off, you would just look to them like an ignoramus who cant press a button, or better yet, a person who can summon lifts without even pressing a button!

Your Hope floats, and you are Grounded in reality. Then why are reals called floating values?
You: Oh, what is the probability of that happening!
Murphy: Well, is it something that would affect you adversely if it happened? If so, then 100%

What are those fleeting moments that we wish we could hold on to? A sudden breeze, a certain light, seems to transport us to a till-now forgotten, long ago, happy moment. Feels like a bubble of time, makes us wish we could live in it some more.
We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life....All that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about....

You have to take a deep breath in. But you can’t hold onto it. You have to let go (of the breath) to enjoy the fresh air. In life, it is the same thing. Letting go is important.

What do you mean, "in life, it is the same thing?". Was the previous statement also not about life? Do you mean to imply that breathing is not a part of life? :-|

Friends are the beings that are dear, mean one well and offer protection. Enemies on the other hand are the opposite of this; they are not dear, wish to cause one harm and to see one’s demise, suffering, loss and unhappiness. http://www.maithri.com/articles_new/Buddhist_approach_to_friendship.html

Something to remember.

"The difference between people who exercise initiative and those who don't is literally the difference between night and day. I'm not talking about a 25 to 50 percent difference in effectiveness; I'm talking about a 5000-plus percent difference, particularly if they are smart, aware, and sensitive to others."

- Stephen R. Covey

Sometimes I just feel like running away.... just to see who would follow, just to see
who really cares, or if anyone cares at all....

Ah, but why should someone else care whether we ran away or not. It just seems weak to have such expectations, no?

"Why is it that when you have to meet a target, your inclination towards work decreases??? "

Why is it that people feed such negative thoughts to others constantly, so that even those who never felt like this before, start feeling it. :-/

y we do run to help our best friend even after a bitter quarrel? y we do feel pleasure in hurting by the one we luv? y r we consoled by the one who made us cry? y do we love our loved one even when they hate us? Bcoz in life some defeats are always sweeter than victory.

Thats the kind of sentimental sap that I do not want to buy, but grudgingly admit to, anyway.

Atlas Shrugged (in a nutshell)

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

-Adrian Rogers
| कर भला, तो हो भला |
As you sow, so do you reap.

It is human tendency to expect good things in return. Without incentive, we wont indulge in good deeds, is it? We need some "promising" verses (like the hindi ones above) or some "threatening dire consequences" proverb (like the english one above) to motivate us to do the right thing.

Well, its not as bad as it sounds. Whatever works, as they say. Anyway, now the times seem to be such that even if the above incentives work, thats a big achievement in itself.
